My 3 Top Female Inspirations

I have been planning this post for a very long time in my head, thinking out what I can say and what I can talk about. Making lists about who I liked and who inspired me and I think I have whittled it down to 5. It is quite hard when there are so many amazing women out there. I will do a Male Inspirations as well, by the way!

1. Adele
You may all know that I love Adele, not only because of her music but where she came from and what she has been through. She "almost destroyed her career" through alcohol abuse and yet look where she is now. I saw her live in March 2016 and it was by far my favourite evening ever. She also supports charities supplying water to 3rd Worl Countries amongst other things and I complain about not having enough time to do things. She must be so busy all the time! She is also so genuinely lovely, which is always nice!

2. Meryl Streep
I have loved Meryl Streep since I first saw her in Mamma Mia. Ever since then I have looked out for her and in everything she does, she adapts to the role and makes it her own, as well as playing it exactly how she knows the audience will want it to be like. As we as this, she is a patron from the ONE campaign, for extreme poverty and set up two scholarship places at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, called the Meryl Streep Endorsed Scholarship for English Majors. She is just an altogether inspirational person and I am sure that many would agree.

3. Dodie Clark
Dodie is one of my biggest inspirations as in a way, one of her dreams is the same. From a young age, she wanted to go into music as a profession and recently she began her US tour, singing and performing for others. She is amazing for doing this anyway, but she is also coping with mental health issues such as depression which I know is hard so to do that whilst away from home is incredible. So much love for her. Plus, her first single has just come onto Spotify, 'Sick of Losing Soulmates' and it is one of my favourite songs ever.

My Top 5 West Side Story Songs

As you may know, I was in the pit band for our school production of West Side Story this year. I have had so much fun and obviously, I have learned most of the songs because I have to play them. I thought that I would give you an insight into my week by giving you my 5 favourite songs of the play, along with a bit of background information.

5. Gee, Officer Krupke
This song is very hard to play but it is so upbeat and funny to watch. It is all about the gang who have problems of their own but always get chucked off of the streets and have nowhere to go as a gang. The dance that goes along with it is so funny and the choice of characters for it was perfect.

4. Tonight Quintet
This song always makes me feel happy because, in the school version, it has all of my favourite people in. It is a very powerful song. It is set out so well and there are so many parts to it!

3. A Boy Like That and I Have A Love
In the play, this song is sung by Maria and Anita. Anita is telling Maria to stop being an idiot and stop seeing Tony. It is a beautiful song and the harmonies at the end are incredible.

2. Dance at the Gym + Mambo
These songs are so upbeat and the dances for this are so good! I love it when you get to shout "MAMBO" in the middle of the phrase!

1. America
Obviously, this song had to be included. It is a massive number and is one of the most well-known songs from West Side Story, if not the most well known. It's such a sassy song and it is so catchy The dances are so well choreographed as well!

I hope this gave you an idea of some of my favourite West Side Story songs and maybe even give you something to listen to!

New Year Blog Goals

This is slightly copying Jemima of Another Ranting Reader but I thought I would do a post about what I aim to achieve this year on my blog. I, therefore, give credit to Jemima, whose blog you can view here.

1. More followers on Bloglovin'
This is very much like Jemima's goal, but I am aiming for 100 followers by the end of 2016. At the moment, I have 33 followers and I think that I should be able to get 100 by the end of the year. If you have not followed my Bloglovin' profile, there are buttons to the side of my posts.

2. Keep my posts consistent
As I have exams this year, my goal is to keep my posts as consistent as possible throughout. This will mean I will have to schedule posts, but I already do that a lot anyway because when I have little moments of time, I like to write a lot at once because once my brain starts think of ideas, it won't stop until they are all out!

3. Start putting videos on my posts
I enjoy making little videos of me doing things and I think that if I can intertwine that with my blog posts, they will look really nice!

4. Put more recipes up
I enjoy baking so much, so I think that if I can put more recipes up, it would be a nice change to my normal posts!

This was just a small post to say what I am aiming for!

I am back at school today and I hope everyone has a good first proper week bak if they are back at work and school!
