Drugstore Makeup Starter Kit

"Here is the generic beauty and lifestyle blogger, back at it again with an all-time classic that no one has ever thought of before", I hear you say. Well, here I am, and due to the fact that I have no ideas at the moment due to an overload of the brain, I thought I would do a drugstore makeup starter kit. These are makeup products that are widely available and cheap compared to high-end, so those who don't want to spend a lot, can get the basics Here we go!

Firstly, we need a base. If you are starting out with makeup, you may not want to use something very heavy, so I use a BB cream from Rimmel, as it has good coverage but not too much to take over your face because a lot of people don't want to have a massive face change in a day.
Rimmel BB Cream 9 in 1 with SPF 25 - £6.99

Secondly, we need some concealer. I have two favourites which are inexpensive and cover anything you don't want to be seen on your face, from spots to undereye bags. Firstly, the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. This concealer is the best I have tried. It stays where you want it to be for a long time and is just my absolute favourite. Also, the Soap and Glory Kick-Ass Concealer Blur and Brighten Crayon is brilliant for undereye bags. It covers them up so well.
Soap and Glory Kick-Ass Concealer Blur and Brighten Crayon - £6.00
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - £4.19

Next, blusher and bronzer. Now, I am not the one for expensive bronzers and blushers because I don't use them enough, but I have recently invested in a better bronzer for summer. However, these examples are cheap and when you are starting out, they are exactly what you need. These are Boots' own brand, Natural Collection. When I started with makeup, they were the right price and just what I needed to get my head around what to do with everything! The Natural Collection bronzer in Sun Shine. It is a good bronzer with good pigmentation, brilliant for starter contouring. This goes with the blusher in Pink Cloud, which is a cute pinky shade.
Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks in Pink Clouds - £1.99
Natural Collection Suntint Bronzing Powder in Sun Shine - £1.99

Now onto eyes. Eyeshadow has been something I have worn since a young age and has always made me feel very confident for some reason. This palette is all the eye shadows you will need forever! It is from Makeup Revolution and has 18 shades. It is the palette named 'What you waiting for?' and it is the best for eyeshadow, and the darker shades are good if you want to fill in your eyebrows as well.
Makeup Revolution Palette in 'What you waiting for?' - £4.00

If you are looking for an eyeliner to add to your collection, this Collection 24 hour Extreme eyeliner pen is the best for people who are starting out. I have this because I don't wear eyeliner but keep wanting to try to pull it off!
Collection 24 Hour Extreme Felt Tip Black - £2.99

Mascara was makeup product that started my addiction. I have worn it since the age of 11 or something silly like that and it is my staple makeup product. Maybelline Lash Sensational is the one that I come back to every time. It is the closest you will get from a high-end mascara, but with half the cost included!
Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara - £7.99

Lips are a hard one because everyone likes different things. I have a few examples for those who want to try different things. Firstly, lip crayons are the best for those who want a subtle lip but still want to be seen as wearing something. Collection Lip Butter in Vintage Rose is my favourite subtle nude lip. It is such a nice colour and this is my go to for a lip that I don't want to look too dressed up for if you see what I mean! If you are looking for a gloss, the Seventeen Lip Lustres are so good. The colours are perfect and they are moisturising, if not slightly sticky (we can get over that, though). I have one in Talk That Talk, another beautiful nude (are you sensing a theme.) If you want a lipstick, the Rimmel The Only One Lipstick in Naughty Nude is so pretty because it is slightly darker than a nude so it is so nice for everyday use. I love these, but if you are wanting a bolder colour, go for an orange, like this Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in the shade 'In Love With Ginger. I love this because it is so bold!
Collection Lip Butter in Vintage Rose - £2.99
Seventeen Lip Lustre in Talk That Talk - £3.99
Rimmel The Only One Lipstick in Naughty Nude - £6.99
Rimmel Moisture Renew in In Love With Ginger - £6.49

And, if you want to push the boat out and get a bag for your drugstore makeup, I recommend Boots Travel Cosmetic Purse. I have one like this but in a different design. Also, the Zoella makeup bags are so pretty, I highly recommend a look!
Boots Travel Cosmetic Purse - £5.00
Zoella Makeup Bags - £6.00 to £15.00

I also recommend the Collection Speedy Highlighter Stick in Pearl, if you want to use a highlighter! I highly recommend it!
Collection Speedy Highlighter in Pearl - £3.99

I hope you enjoyed this! It took longer than I thought to write and take photos and things like that, but I enjoy writing things like this and I hope you enjoy reading them.

The Disney Tag

I am a massive Disney fanatic! I love the atmosphere a Disney film can create, just by listening to the soundtrack or watching it. It can bring a sense of awe into children and adults alike and that is what I love about it. Jemima (anotherrantingreader) tagged me in The Disney Tag and I had to have a go!

1. Favourite Disney Film?
How can you ask such a question? There are so many! Alice in Wonderland, both older and newer versions, but the original is so good because I love the magic it creates. Cinderella will get mentioned a lot in this post, but I love Cinderella so much. Frozen, obviously, however mainstream it may be. Winnie the Pooh has always been a firm favourite from when I was a baby.

2. Favourite Disney Character?
Cinderella, of course. I also love Rapunzel from Tangled because she is such a good singer! Also, Dory from Finding Nemo because a lot of the time, she relates to me so well!

3. Favourite Disney Princess?
Although Cinderella is obviously my favourite, Belle comes in at a firm second place. I love her so much!

4. Favourite Disney Sidekick?
The White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland counts, doesn't it? Or maybe Jaq and Gus from Cinderella?

5. Favourite Disney Song?
Either Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, If This Is Love or Beauty and The Beast. I love all three!

6. Which Disney character would be your best friend?
Hard choice! Maybe Mickey Mouse, or Minnie Mouse? Oh, I don't know! Cinderella probably (I did warn you!)

7. Who would be you Disney pet?
Maybe Pom-Pom from Cinderella, but also The White Rabbit or The Jabberwocky? So many to choose from!

8. Have you ever been to DisneyLand?
Unfortunately, I have not yet had that pleasure. We keep saying we will go, but then plans go a different way and we never do. I would love to, though.

9. Who is your Disney Alter-Ego?
Maybe Alice from Alice in Wonderland, but maybe Belle because I have always wanted to explore and I love books, so probably them!

10. Who is your favourite Disney villain?
Cruella De Vil. So scary get so sassy.

11. Do you collect anything Disney-themed?
I wouldn't say I collect anything, but I am building a pile of all the Disney classics if that counts!

12. What Disney film would you like to star in, if you could?
Alice in Wonderland, by far. I could put some sense into the situations, I think!

13. How old were you when you watched your first Disney film?
I have no idea, I was being shown them before I remember!

14. What do you love about Disney?
Take a look at the top of the post!

15. Who is your favourite Disney couple?
Daisy Duck and Donald Duck, how cute!

Thank you for reading this!
I would like to tag Anna (AFabulousFeminist) to do this, but go ahead and have a go yourself and comment below!

Thoughts on Education | May 2016

I know I haven't been around much, but revision has well and truly taken over. And it has got me thinking about a lot of things.

There are so many of us who do our best, revise as much as we can, but then we compare ourselves to others and automatically feel inadequate. "Oh no", we think, "I haven't done enough", "I am going to fail" and "What happens then?" I know that I have definitely felt this way over the last couple of months. People saying "You will be fine!", but you automatically think "No, I won't."

GCSEs are confusing, they are less about your knowledge and a lot more on your memory, which gives an advantage to those who can easily memorise and a disadvantage to those who cannot. For example, French GCSE. The idea is that you have 2 papers, a listening and a reading, 2 speaking tests and 2 writing tests. However, those speaking tests and writing tests are completely based on memory. I don't need to understand what I am saying or writing, as long as it makes sense and I remember it all.

It frustrates me because a lot of what we learn is not necessary for everyday life. Even things like learning phrases in French is not useful because half of them don't make sense when you are saying them to a French person. What is the point in that?

Also, the fact that we are now being encouraged to take subjects like sciences, maths, English and humanities. Ridiculous. What if I don't want to do that. My whole school life has been based on my music and no government is going to tell me to stop doing that and do something I don't want to study so that I get on in the world.

The whole education system, in Britain at least, has taken a turn for the worst. Why am I studying this? Why am I memorising this? If you think about it, I am making a lot of sense. But many people don't think so.

Also, what are you getting out of memorising the equation for the volume of a cylinder or the quotes from 'Of Mice and Men'? Nothing at all. It is completely pointless and unnecessary.

What do you think?

April Sum-Up

April has gone weirdly quickly, but I guess every month is doing the same at the moment. It is really scary and I wish it would slow down, but at the same time, I wish it would speed up to summer!

Here are my favourites for this month!

Favourite Songs?
Cheap Thrills by Sia has been my jam this month. It is such a feel-good song and everyone should listen to it because it cheers me up every time I listen to it! Also, Cake by the Ocean by DNCE. This song is another feel-good song and every time I listen to it, it makes me want to dance. As we get into summer, all of the summery songs come out and that excites me a lot!

Favourite People?
So many people, but I am pretty sure you know who you are! Jemima and Anna, who you can click on to see their blogs, have been favourites as always. Also, Mcfly, who recently announced their Anthology Tour, which Jemima and I are hopefully going to attend! Also, the Kardashians. I don't really know why, but they have been! Carrie Hope Fletcher, who has been doing regular videos that always make me happy and Gabbie Lindley, who has been a favourite for a long long time!

Favourite Makeup?
Recently, I bought the Makeup Revolution Palette in 'What You Waiting For?' It has such a range of beautiful nude shades, which are so pigmented. The palettes as also so inexpensive. I bought this palette for £4 but it is usually £6, which is still such a good price. Also, the Collection Highlighter Stick in Pearl. It is just really good for highlighting the browbone and cheekbones without the effort of a brush because you can just blend it in with your finger. Finally, my Rimmel Only 1 Lipstick in Naughty Nude. I have been wearing this every day I can because it is so easily wearable and stays on for ages. Also, it smells like watermelon!

Favourite Drink?
Lady Grey tea, as always, has been so good. But also, water. Just cold water. I take a bottle everywhere with me and it is just so refreshing!

Favourite Pictures?
Hard choice, as always. Here they are:

Would you like me to do a GRWM day in Oxford when I went last weekend?

Stay happy,
Katie xx
