New Years Resolutions

Hi, everybody!
Like every year, I have made some new years resolutions that I will (hopefully) stand by throughout 2016! My motivation usually lasts until about February but we can try! This is the first year I have actually written them down so next December I can read them and see whether I have completed my goals!

Be more organised!

I say this a lot and every now and then, I have a sudden urge to organise things, which is nice at the time, but slowly grows into boredom, which means that the whole organisational thing goes downhill quite rapidly!

Complete my 2016 goal on Goodreads!

My goal for 2016 will be 35 books because I tend to do a lot of rereading, but I need to start reading new books because otherwise I go round and round reading the Hunger Games, Harry Potter and The Divergent series, which isn't a bad thing, but I do need to start culturing myself more!

Keep my enthusiasm for music

This year has been a bumpy ride in terms of my musical enjoyment, but I know that I really do love music and my dream really is to be a music teacher. In order to do that, I need to keep the enthusiasm that I currently have. It has wavered a bit because of stress and disagreements, but music is always there for you and I know that, so I need to keep being its friend because it is good to me!

Have the best summer holiday ever!

This year is GCSEs, which isn't brilliant, but I know that after them, I have an 8-9 week holiday! I have talked to people and they have said that the summer in front of me is the best one that they ever had, and I need to grasp that with both hands. Because I probably won't be able to do NCS, I will probably get a job or some work experience, which should be fun!

Paint my nails more often

I love having freshly painted nails, but I don't do it enough, which annoys me! I also need to explore more colours because I am still not sure whether I suit yellow of now!

REVISE!

This is a must, but I must start to be more motivated than I am at the moment because otherwise I am not going to get where I want to be. The teaching world is competitive, but I want to beat it, which means getting good grades!

Blog more and start videos

Recently, I have discovered more and more blogs that are using videos in their posts. I think this has a really good effect and I would love you do it myself!

Birthday Presents

I seem to have an ongoing problem with buying people Birthday presents. I know it is their birthday, most of the time, but I have an inability to buy them anything good or at all! This year, I am going to be good and I am going to buy those I love birthday presents because it is a nice thing to do and when I forget, I feel so bad because I do love them, I just forget!

What are your resolutions?

Stay happy and Happy New Year!

Inspirational Sittings

Do you ever sit down with your laptop on your lap or on the table in front of you and you suddenly have a moment of inspiration.

This could have been from something that you had watched, like a video with some amazing music, or listening to a playlist that you haven't heard before, discovering some music which makes your heart ever so slightly more joyful because it is so kick-ass that you feel like walking down a street and showing everyone how amazing your life actually is?

I get this every now and then and it makes me really happy. I get that little feeling of happiness in my heart which warms me and makes me feel really good about myself.

When I am feeling down and I want that inspirational moment, I listen to something which is amazing. At the moment, it is the Love Actually soundtrack because it is absolutely amazing. It is a lovely mixture of sad songs, happy songs, Christmas songs and pop songs which fits perfectly with my every mood.

It is almost like that feeling when you come home and you get nice and cosy and you just want to make some warm gingerbread and eat it in front of the fire whilst reading a good novel or flicking through Pinterest (which is me most days to be honest!)

Have you ever had an inspirational sitting?

Stay happy,

My Favourite Bloggers 2015

Christmas 2015: Get Ready With Me

It is that time of year where we all want to look our best on the big day. I am going to show you how I will be getting ready on Christmas day this year. You will see my make-up routine as well as a few extra bits! Enjoy!

So firstly, I will use my Lancome cleanser, which I just layer onto my face. This leaves my face smooth and ready to moisturise. I will then go ahead with my Garnier moisturiser. I especially apply this to my eyes, forehead and nose, because that is where I get the driest patches.

After I have washed my face, I will brush my hair with my tangle teaser and put it in a hair grip to get it out of my face.

I start with my Rimmel BB cream, which has a light/medium coverage because I don't want to feel caked in make-up today. I apply that all over my face and then either use my hands or a brush to blend that in.
Then, I will apply my Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer under my eyes and on any spots that need covering. This doesn't work so well on spots but it does the job when I look like I am sleepwalking! I might apply some powder usually, but today I am not because it is the wrong shade for my skin right now!

After that, I will go onto my eyes. I use my Clinique eye shadow quad and use the pink shade all over my eyelid and the light silvery one on the corners to make my eyes look bigger and brighter. I will apply some of my Maybelline Lash Sensation mascara onto my lashes for extra volume.

I will then do my eyebrows. I use the darkest shade in my Clinique quad and I use an angled brush to fill in my eyebrows. I keep this in place with the Rimmel Brow This Way in the shade medium brown. I then apply a it of my concealer to highlight my brow bones.

I then just used a nude/pink lipgloss. This time I used the Tanya Burr lip gloss in Picnic in the Park, which is gorgeous!

Then I go onto my hair. I generally just put it up into a ponytail, so that is what I will probably do on Christmas Day. Alternatively, I might have it down, which is what I have done now.

On my nails, I used the Barry M nail paint in 273 Raspberry and topped it with the Technic Ruby Slippers Nailwear, which made my nails nice and glittery!

And that is the finished look!

I hope your Christmas is amazing and I hope this gave you a good idea of what I will be wearing on my face this year!

Stay happy and Merry Christmas,
Katie xx

My Favourite Songs - Christmas 2015 Edition

Christmas songs are the best type of songs and this year has been extra brilliant for them. We have had some new ones and also we have rediscovered the old ones. Here is my top 5 songs this December!

5. It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas - Michael Bublé
I love this song because it is exactly what I am thinking. It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I love this version as well because there is nothing better than a good bit of Michael Bublé!

4. Santa Tell Me - Ariana Grande
This song is so festive and I love Ariana's voice so her doing a Christmas song is perfect! It is such a nice song as well!

3. I'll Be Home - Meghan Trainor
I love this song. It is a great modern take on a Christmas classic and it is so Christmassy that on a rainy night, it is really nice to sing along to!

2. Home For Christmas - Maria Mena
I heard this song the other day on a playlist someone else had created on Spotify and I automatically fell in love. It is such a nice song and it is really calming which is something that I want at Christmas time in the evening when I am wrapping presents and spending time with family.

1. Christmas Lights - Coldplay
I love this song because I love Coldplay and it is so nice. Like number 2, it is calming and nice to sit and listen to whilst I am doing other things or writing blog posts!

The True Meaning of Christmas

With only 5 days left until the big day, people are panicking about whether they have enough food to feed the 500, hoping they got the right sized jumper for Granny, aimlessly walking around shops, wishing they had an extra £5 to spend on that gift set that you have always wanted to get for that special person.

But why panic? I spoke to a friend the other day and they told me that they aren't panicking, because as long as they have something for feed that friend that pops in for a cuppa and as long as you have a nice time, nothing else should matter. You have what you have and you shouldn't worry about whether your present is going to be good or not, because people shouldn't judge you by your presents. They should be glad to have you there.

Christmas should be about family and love, but through the years, shop advertisements and peoples perceptions have changed and we now think that Christmas is about presents and who got the most expensive thing.

People who have family are lucky and we should cherish that. Stop wanting and maybe, start giving this Christmas.

Stay happy,
Katie xx

Why would you?

What is it that impairs us from being able to speak freely?
What is it that stops us from saying what what we need to?
Who is it that says we shouldn't be so dreamy?
Who stops us from having our own little view?

The world isn't perfect and neither am I.
But why can people not see,
that as much as we stop and we try,
the world won't conform just for you or me.

Because that girl who is out there on the streets,
Is not different to any of us.
All of us people think of ourselves as elites,
But really, who can we trust?

Those people out there who are frightened,
They are cold and they just need a hug,
Because when there world can be brightened,
Why would you walk on and shrug?

Stay happy,

I Have An Excuse

I have written a few posts that are scheduled for later this month, but I am sorry that I haven't put one up since Monday. I am currently just about to take my grade 6 flute, GCSE mocks, christmas and I am coming down with a cold and am slowly and steadily losing my voice.

I am going to go to bed now, but I am sorry for not posting

Revising for Mocks

Recently, I have started the chore of revising for my up and coming mocks, which are in January. This means that during the festive season, I will have to do a bit of desk slavery. But I have found a few things that have made my experience a tad more exciting or enjoyable (if that's what you want to call revising!)
Revising (or studying) is not something that we want to do, but to get us through life, we will have to do it at some point. These are my tips of how to revise so that you can enjoy your life around it and keep calm before the exam storm!

Number 1. Make yourself a hot drink!
Today I went for a cup of tea in my favourite mug, but sometimes I will have a gingerbread latte or just a normal coffee. I think that having a hot drink with a little shot of caffeine is the best way to revise because it prepares you and makes you want to do more because you are more awake!

Number 2. Make a revision timetable!
Currently, I make a revision timetable per week so that I have a vague idea of what I have going on in the up and coming week. I use the website getrevising.com to make a timetable, because it takes all of your subjects and commitments into account as well as your free time and it creates you a timetable that you will want to use. Also, it is colourful, which makes me feel like this is more enjoyable than it actually is!

Number 3. Get the revision guides that you need for your subjects!
My favourite revision guides are the CGP guides because they are fun to work with and use pictures which help me to memorise the subject more. Also, I have the maths guides from the company 'Revise Edexcel' which are also excellent! As well as the revision books, for some subjects i.e. maths, I have the workbook, which gives you all the subjects and gives you questions to answer and work through.

Number 4. Take regular breaks!
Every 20 minutes or so, stop and take a break. Go and drink a glass of water and eat something or just go and spend time with your family for a few minutes. This will relax your brain after the stress that revising puts on it. Then go back and do another 20 minutes or so. The brain can concentrate for a maximum of 45 minutes (on average) before it starts to let go of all the information it was withholding.

Number 5. Organise your workspace!
Recently, I cleared my desk up so that I could use it and not be so cramped because it was so cluttered with rubbish! Now, I have the essential things on it. A light, a pot full of things such as hairbands, tissues and lip balms etc so that I don't have to move to get them. I also have a pencil and pen pot, a money pot because my desk is right by the door and a coloured pens holder. I have used bookends and put all of my folders and revision guides together so that they are on hand for when I need them. I also have my laptop and my camera so that they are both on hand as well. I added a photo of me and my friends as well to keep me going. Finally, I have some coasters to put my drinks on! I also found that by tidying my desk and my room, I was a lot more motivated to revise and do my work!

Number 6. Have some music on!
I was told once that if you listened to music whilst working, put some tunes on that you hadn't heard before because if you know the lyrics to a song, it will start thinking about that rather than the work that you are doing. This can distract you and we don't want that! I use a playlist on Spotify that is made for deep concentration because they update it regularly which means it isn't the same music all the time. This means I cannot learn it fast enough for it to have an effect! However, I know that sometimes all I want to listen to is my favourite music, which is fine! Once in a while play tracks that you know to cheer you up and keep you motivated!

Number 7. Whiteboards!
I have a mini whiteboard on my wall that I can write my current homework or revision status on. Alternatively, I write little things to remind me to keep motivated. For example, currently, I have "Don't forget to eat! We don't want you getting hangry and stressed!" I get very hangry (hungry and angry) and this stresses me out big time when I am trying to concentrate!

Number 8. Sleep!
Remember to sleep because although revision is a big part of exams, so is sleep. If you don't sleep, you are not going to remember all of the stuff you revised because you will be too tired! Also, you don't want to fall asleep in the exams!

Number 9. Technology!
I have learned that if I have my iPod or my phone next to me when I am working, I get distracted because as soon as a notification pops up, you look at it and lose concentration. I tend to put my IPod on the other side of my bedroom because then I have to get up to check it and usually I cannot be bothered to do that!

Number 10. Sticker Chart and Wall Planner
This one has been something that I thought of quite recently. I put all of my subjects down the side of a chart and each box had the words 1 hour above it. This way, every time I did one hour of revision, I would put a sticker or colour in the box and at the end, I would get a reward. I find this motivates me because I know that at the end, I get a treat!
Also, I bought a wall planner off of Amazon, which was just a mid-year 2015-2016 planner. On this, I put everything that I had going on and when my exams were. Thid way, I knew when to revise, what to revise and things I had to look forward to in the near future.

I hope that this has given you some tips of how to revise for mocks! Comment if you want my favourite revision apps or other revision posts!

Katie xx

The School Play

For the past 4 years of my life, I have been involved in the school's musical that is put on every February. That one week in February is the best week in my school calendar. It begins with a Saturday and Sunday of rehearsals, mixed with Dominos pizza deliveries and banter with my favourite people. The Monday and Tuesday are non-uniform rehearsals, with Tuesday being a dress rehearsal to local primary schools and then adjustments in the afternoon. The rest of the week is fueled with coffee, tea and the excitement of the evening show and the laughter that comes with it.

I also get to play the flute, which is always fun, watching my favourite people on the stage, doing an amazing job. Rehearsals are in full flow at the moment and have been since September.

But when I leave school, I will step out of my comfort zone of the school plays and venture on to new things, better things, but the school plays will always be my favourite part of school (other than the carol service)

November Favourites

Hi everyone,

I thought I would show you some of the things I have been loving these past few months, because there are a few things I really have been loving!

Maybelline Lash Sensational
This has to be the best mascara I have ever used. It gives so much volume and you don't have to curl your eyelashes, even though I tend to because it is a habit! I also love it because it makes me look more awake and during term time, that is exactly what I need! However, due to overuse, the packaging has started to disintergrate slightly, leaving a pink glitter on my hands!

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion +
I recently rediscovered this after using my simple rich moisturising lotion and the garnier dry skin moisturiser and I must say that I wish I hadn't stopped using it. It makes my skin so smooth and has cleared up all of the dry patches on my face, especially my eyelids, which were so dry because of an eyeshadow phase I went through earlier this year! It is perfect for winter and I will keep using this!

Soap and Glory Original Pink Body Spray
I bought this the other day and it smells so good. It is the travel size which, from Boots, is £4.00. I don't think that is bad and you get a lot for your money. The full size is £10.00, but the travel one is much more convenient as I can carry it in any bag I want, whenever I want.

Baby Lips Sugar Apple Lip Balm
This lip balm smells so good! It smells like apples, but in a sort of mulled wine sort of way. It is tinted, which for me is quite nice, even though I cannot wear it to school. It is such a christmassy colour and the packaging is so cute that I am going to buy more of these so that when they leave the shelves, I will still have mine!

Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Makeup Remover
I have spent many hours scrubbing off my eye makeup, especially as my mascara is waterproof and a good waterproof one at that. Makeup wipes irritated my eyes and Garnier Micellar water wouldn't budge my mascara. This, however, romoves all of my eye makeup, without any residue on my face and it isn't greasy! I still use my micellar water for my face if I wear a lot on a certain day, but usually I will just use water. Thank you Garnier because I finally remember the feeling of having clean eyelashes!

Adele 25
I am a huge huge huge fan of Adele and I have been since her first song came out. I am looking at getting tour tickets to go with my friend and I cant wait! I won't say to much about the album, because I am going to do a track-by-track review later on, but what I will say is that it is exactly what I needed in my life!

Boohoo.com
I have always liked Boohoo's clothing range but at Christmas, it seems to be even better! There is such a good choice and I always buy

Dear November

Dear November,

Thanks for this month. Although in the UK we have just started naming our storms, we have already had storm Abigail and storm Barney. However, apart from the British thing of moaning about the weather, this month has taught me a lot.

For example, I have learned that the people who I think don't like me, actually do like me and it is all in my head. Also, I have learned that you can buy your own gingerbread lattes to make AT HOME! Crazy, I know.a

I have applied for both of my chosen colleges and have an interview in approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. I am looking forward to it because I am talking about my life and I know the most about that subject.

I have made some amazing friends, been to parties, secured friendships and laughed more than you could ever know. I also have cried quite a lot as well. I'm good at that!

I have thought of Christmas a lot, I have planned things and I have less than 24 hours until I am investing in 3 Adele tour tickets. OMG. I cannot wait.

So thank you November, for being great. I hope that December is just as good.

Stay happy,
Katie xx
